LPD to Host Free Citizens Motorcycle Academy

LUBBOCK, TX — The Lubbock Police Department’s Motors Unit announced Tuesday that it will host a Citizens Motorcycle Academy on Saturday, May 10th, at Wild West Harley-Davidson at 5702 58th Street.

According to a press release from LPD, the full-day event will give people a closer look at the training LPD motorcycle officers undergo and offer an opportunity to improve their own riding skills.

The academy is open to licensed motorcycle riders with a valid driver’s license and motorcycle endorsement. It is limited to 16 participants.

Participants will need to bring their own motorcycle, lunch, drinks, and snacks, and wear appropriate gear, including a helmet, close-toed shoes, and long pants. A liability waiver must also be signed.

There is no cost to participate, but applicants must apply by April 28th to allow for background checks.
