Fire Tears Through East Lubbock Home, Damages Nearby Structures

 

LUBBOCK, TX — Fire crews from multiple departments responded to a structure fire in East Lubbock Monday morning that destroyed a home and caused damage to two nearby buildings.

The fire broke out around 10:10 a.m. in the 4100 block of East 2nd Street. According to the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office, a single-story home was engulfed in flames when deputies arrived.

The Lubbock Fire Department was first on the scene and began battling the blaze while additional support was called in. Fire departments from Idalou, New Deal, Buffalo Springs, and Roosevelt all responded to assist in containing the fire.

A mobile home located to the west of the property and a church to the east also sustained some fire damage. The fire was controlled by 10:58 a.m., and no injuries were reported, says LCSO.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
