Slide Road at Loop 88 to Close Saturday for Bridge Work

LUBBOCK, TX — The Texas Department of Transportation has announced the closure of Slide Road at Loop 88 (FM 1585) on Saturday, May 31, from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The closure is necessary to place concrete for a new bridge deck, says TxDOT.

Both northbound and southbound traffic on Slide Road will be detoured during the closure. The closure is scheduled for one day only and relies on weather conditions. No work is planned for Sunday.

This construction activity is part of a larger $154.8 million project to upgrade FM 1585 into Loop 88, a six-lane freeway including frontage roads, overpasses, and entrance and exit ramps. The project is designed to improve traffic capacity and safety in the area.

Drivers are asked to follow posted detour signs, plan for possible delays, and use alternate routes.
