Slide Road at Loop 88 to Close Saturday for Bridge Construction

LUBBOCK, TX — The Texas Department of Transportation announced that Slide Road at Loop 88 will close this Saturday, June 7, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. to allow crews to pour the concrete deck for a new overpass.

The closure will affect both northbound and southbound lanes on Slide Road. TxDoT says detours will be in place, and drivers should plan alternate routes and expect delays.

According to a press release, the bridge work is part of the $154.8 million Loop 88 expansion project, which will convert FM 1585 into a six-lane freeway complete with new frontage roads, bridges, and ramps.

The bridge deck operation is scheduled for Saturday only, weather permitting. No work is planned for Sunday.
