Rainy Weather Forces 4th on Broadway Celebrations to Move

LUBBOCK, TX — Due to recent and projected rainfall in Lubbock, all evening events for this year’s 4th on Broadway celebration have been moved from Mackenzie Park to the South Plains Fairgrounds, organizers announced Tuesday.

The ground at Mackenzie Park is too saturated to safely support critical infrastructure such as concert stages and children’s activity areas.

The H-E-B Parade, organized by Los Hermanos Familia and the Military Order of the Purple Heart, remains unaffected. The parade will proceed as scheduled, beginning at 9:45 a.m. from First Baptist Church.

Updated Event Schedule at the South Plains Fairgrounds:

  • Reliant's Picnic Under the Stars – 5 p.m.

  • Leprino’s Kids Area Hosted by Cabela’s – all evening

  • Gorilla Law Firm Law-Palooza Evening Concert – 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

  • H-E-B's Fireworks Extravaganza – 10 p.m. (viewable from the midway)

Parking Information:

  • $5 Parking:

    • Main Fairgrounds Parking Lot (except reserved north end)

    • Canyon Lake Drive & Broadway (access via manned gates; shuttle service available)

  • Free Parking:

    • Canyon Lake Drive & East 19th Street (access via East 19th; shuttle service available)

Organizers noted that additional logistical details are still being finalized and media interviews will not be granted at this time.
