City of Lubbock to Test Outdoor Warning System on September 12

LUBBOCK, TX — The City of Lubbock will conduct a scheduled test of its Outdoor Warning System (OWS) at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 12, 2025. The test will consist of a three-minute activation of the city's emergency sirens.

Officials emphasized that this is only a test and does not indicate the presence of severe weather in the area.

The Outdoor Warning System is tested on the second Friday of each month. However, if the National Weather Service forecasts a 10% or greater chance of thunderstorms on the day of the test, the siren activation will be canceled and not rescheduled.
