Lubbock Landfill Facilities Close Early Friday

 

LUBBOCK, TX — Two landfill facilities serving the Lubbock area will close early Friday and remain closed through the weekend due to forecasted winter weather, city officials announced.

The West Texas Regional Disposal Facility at 17304 North FM 2528 in Abernathy and the Caliche Canyon Landfill at 8425 N. Avenue P. in Lubbock will close at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, and will not reopen until further notice.

Site-attended Citizen Convenience Stations and recycling drop-off locations within Lubbock city limits will also close at 3 p.m. Friday and remain closed Saturday, Jan. 24.

City officials said all affected private hauling companies have been notified of the closures.
