Lubbock Public Health to Offer Free Naloxone Training

LUBBOCK, TX — Lubbock Public Health’s Prevention Resource Center, in partnership with Central Plains Center, will host a free naloxone (narcan) training next month aimed at helping residents respond to opioid overdoses.

The training is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, at the Lubbock Public Health Building, 2015 50th St. E.

Participants will learn how to recognize the signs of an opioid overdose and how to administer naloxone, also known as Narcan, a medication used to reverse overdoses. Attendees will receive hands-on instruction and a free naloxone kit to take home.

Organizers said expanding education and access to naloxone can help prevent overdose-related deaths by preparing community members to act quickly in emergencies involving prescription opioids or heroin.

The event is free and open to the public. More information is available by calling Lubbock Public Health at 806-775-3890.
