LUBBOCK, TX — Lubbock High School was placed on lockdown and evacuated after authorities received a bomb threat Friday morning, officials said.

According to Lubbock ISD, an unidentified caller reported multiple bombs on campus that would detonate within hours and also threatened responding law enforcement with a firearm.

Lubbock ISD Police responded immediately, assisted by the Lubbock Police Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety. The campus was placed under lockdown as officers established a perimeter and searched for a possible shooter or explosive devices.

After securing the area, students and staff were evacuated to the district’s Central Office reunification site.
