LUBBOCK, TX — Lubbock-Cooper ISD announced on Wednesday, April 3, that the school district has found its next head volleyball coach. Welcome the new Lady Pirates Head Coach, Mike Moffitt, to Lubbock.
Lubbock-Cooper ISD posted the following message on its Facebook page.
“LCISD is pleased to announce the hiring of Mike Moffitt as new head coach of the LCHS Volleyball program,” the post read. “ Coach Moffitt brings extensive experience to the Lady Pirates, including coaching at the high school, club, and collegiate levels.”
Coach Moffitt brings several accomplishments and accolades along with his experience to Lubbock-Cooper. Named District Coach of the Year 4-times in the past, Moffitt most recently led the Amarillo High School Volleyball team to an undefeated 2023 home season and a 48-2 district record. In district last season, Coach Moffitt led Amarillo High on a 38-game winning streak that currently still stands.
Lubbock-Cooper began the coaching search after previous head coach Dana Hill stepped down from the team at the end of last season. Hill led the Lady Pirates to a 32-13 overall record and a perfect, 11-0 mark in district. Lubbock-Cooper advanced to its second Regional Tournament in as many years before the Lady Pirates fell to Argyle.
