Lubbock Christian Cheerleader Makes Program History

DALLAS, TX — The Lubbock Christian University cheer squad recently participated at the NCA SMU Collegiate Cheer camp in Dallas and one of the Lady Chaps made history. Rachel La Cour etched her name in the history books as the first NCA All-America selection in LCU program history.

"Once our stunt group caught Rachel for her final skill, it felt as if the entire camp understood the magnitude of what had just happened for our program," LCU competitive cheer head coach Whitney Sales told the LCU Athletics communications team.  "It was incredible to watch large Division I cheer teams run across the stadium to scoop her up and celebrate with us. The cheer community is like nothing else."

According to lcuchaps.com, La Cour is a native of Liberty, Texas, who completed her freshman season in the Spring.

The All-America honor is given to those who display superior technical skills, leadership, and strong personal values. Each All-America nominee tries out individually with a standing toe-touch back-tuck and a running round-off back-handspring full twisting back-tuck.

Once those tumbling skills are landed successfully, the nominee moves on to the stunting portion. The stunt group for La Cour was made up of her teammates, Reagan HaleBlair Bowen, and Dylan Gossett. Various levels of universities (from NAIA to NCAA Division I) attended the camp, including Texas Tech University, joining LCU in the field of 25 programs.

The team claimed additional accolades at the cheer camp. Lubbock Christian said that future releases will summarize these accomplishments. Additional information about LCU cheer recruitment can be found at www.LCUcheer.com.
