LUBBOCK, TX — Former Texas Tech Red Raiders and San Angelo Central star Davis Martin will make his first start in the major leagues in nearly two years on Friday, Aug. 2, when he takes the mound for the Chicago White Sox against the Minnesota Twins.

Martin is returning after a 14-month absence due to Tommy John surgery.
He had a relief appearance Saturday that was his first action in the majors since Oct. 5, 2022.
When the White Sox traded Erick Fedde to the St. Louis Cardinals earlier this week, it opened up a spot in their starting rotation that went to Martin, who had just worked his way back up through a series of rehab starts.

As a senior at San Angelo Central High School in 2015, Martin led the Bobcats to the regional quarterfinals for the first time in program history. He went 9-1 with a 0.29 ERA and 116 strikeouts.
Martin played college ball at Texas Tech University, where he went 10-1 with a 2.52 ERA (25 ER/89.1 IP) over 19 games (14 starts) as a freshman in 2016 and earned freshman all-American honors while helping the Red Raiders reach the College World Series in 2016.
First pitch between the White Sox and Twins on Friday night will be at 7:10 p.m.
