SAN JOSE, BRAZIL — The Lubbock Christian Lady Chaps Basketball team capped off a successful weekend abroad when they claimed a 96-28 victory over SR. Mampituba in the championship game at the inaugural Trimania International Women's Basketball Tournament in San Jose, Brazil.
Following a huge victory in Game 1, the Lady Chaps continued to dominate throughout the weekend with another commanding victory in Game 2. Grace Foster continued to lead the way through the first two games, heading into the final.
In the championship contest, Foster scored 14 points in 18 minutes before sitting out to let others snag some playing time. Audrey Spurgin was a force in the paint with 15 points and 11 rebounds (7 offensive).
SR. Mampituba played tough but could not handle the Lady Chap's defense and overwhelming offense at the end of the day. LCU claimed the victory in the final contest and took home the Tournament Championship.
This victory marks a significant achievement for LCU, not only for the win itself but also for the experience gained on an international stage, as the game closed its first-ever NCAA foreign tour of games. LCU, going 3-0 in Brazil, was playing their first-ever games on foreign soil, further solidifying their reputation and strengthening their successful tradition in women's collegiate basketball.
