Added to the latest good news, Pirates’ wide receiver Michael Dever was recently nominated for Mr. Texas Football Player of the Week for his performance against Lovejoy. It was an exciting game last Friday in Lucas, Texas. The Pirates went back and forth with Leopards deep into the 4th quarter, ultimately coming out on top, 46-43. The win over a metroplex school is always worth celebrating, but the Pirates will have to refocus and prepare for another school that won a close game last week in the Coronado Mustangs.

The Lubbock Coronado Mustangs defeated Wichita Falls Legacy 41-34. This weekend should be an excellent test for Cooper in the Pirates home opener. Lubbock-Cooper hosts Lubbock Coronado on Friday, September 6, at Pirate Stadium in Lubbock.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
