TOLEDO, OH — The No. 4 Texas Tech men’s golf team kicked off their 2024-25 season with a top-five finish at the 2024 Inverness Intercollegiate, carding a final round 4-over-par 280 on Tuesday. Competing in a loaded field featuring five top-10 nationally ranked teams, the Red Raiders finished fifth with a 54-hole total of 833 (+5).
Sophomore Tim Wiedemeyer led the Red Raiders, finishing fifth individually with a 4-under-par 203. Wiedemeyer posted back-to-back 66s in the second and third rounds, finishing as one of only ten golfers to shoot under par in the tournament. He was bogey-free for the first 15 holes in the final round, carding birdies on holes 1, 14, and 18 before a single bogey on the 16th hole.
Sophomore Ben Gregg also played well, tying for seventh after a final round 66, finishing with a 2-under-par 205. Gregg, competing as an individual, turned in a bogey-free front nine and had only one bogey on the back nine.
Freshman Connor Graham made a solid collegiate debut, finishing tied for 12th with a 1-over-par 208 after a final-round 71.
Texas Tech returns to action at the OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational at Olympia Fields Country Club from 9/20 to 9/22.
