GOODYEAR, AZ — Lubbock Christian University (LCU) narrowly missed out on the RJGA Shootout at Estrella title, finishing just two strokes behind Colorado Christian to secure a share of second place in the 16-team event that kicked off the 2024-25 season.

The Lady Chaps improved their performance on Tuesday, shaving four strokes off their opening round score from Monday. Leading the way was standout Anaya Perales, who finished with a score of 2-over-par for the tournament, securing second place individually. Perales demonstrated poise under pressure, closing her final round with birdies on holes 16 and 18 to finish with a 1-over-par 146 overall, just two strokes behind the individual champion.
First-time competitor Alejandra Escobar also impressed, finishing second on the team and tied for 13th overall with a 7-over-par 151. Escobar made significant progress in her second round, cutting five strokes from her day-one total.
Senior Lily Griffin rebounded from an 8-over-par opening round to card a much-improved 3-over-par in round two, jumping into a tie for 29th place with an 11-over-par total of 155.
Other notable performances included Alexandra Escamilla, who finished with a 16-over-par 160, tying for 43rd place, and Kyra Schmuhl, who placed 74th with a 27-over-par 171.
The Lady Chaps will next compete in the Sam Proal Insurance Invitational in Pueblo, Colorado, on October 7th and 8th, aiming to build on their strong season opener.
