Mahomes and the Chiefs Remain Undefeated in Win Over the Saints

KANSAS CITY, MO — Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs ran off the New Orleans Saints on their home turf on Monday night. The Chiefs claimed a 26-13 victory in a game where Mahomes threw for 331 yards, Kelce hauled in nine catches for 70 yards, and Hunt, in his return to Arrowhead, rushed 27 times for 102 yards and a touchdown.

On defense, the Chiefs held Saints quarterback Derek Carr to 185 passing yards before he left the game in the fourth quarter with an oblique injury. In what seems like a pattern this season, the Chiefs held the struggling Saints to almost nothing on the ground. Star running back Alvin Kamara managed just 26 yards on 11 carries.

Kansas City’s defense has been stellar against the run all season, and Monday night was no different. After previously stifling stars like Derrick Henry, Bijan Robinson, and J.K. Dobbins, they held Kamara to a meager output, making life difficult for New Orleans all evening.

Despite their own offensive struggles, particularly in the red zone, the Chiefs kept control of the game. Kicker Harrison Butker hit three field goals, including two in the second half to extend Kansas City’s lead. Mahomes connected with wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster on a 50-yard pass to set up a fourth-quarter touchdown by Xavier Worthy, which gave the Chiefs a 23-13 lead. A late field goal sealed the win, keeping the Chiefs unbeaten at 5-0.

The Saints, now 2-3, will hope to regroup after losing Carr to injury late in the game. Meanwhile, the Chiefs enter their bye week on top of the AFC standings.
