Rodriguez's standout performance played a pivotal role in Texas Tech's 28-22 victory over Arizona, improving the Red Raiders' record to 5-1 overall and 3-0 in the Big 12.
Rodriguez recorded an impressive stat line, including 13 tackles, one sack, a forced fumble, and a pass breakup. His impactful plays were pivotal throughout the game, beginning with a 16-yard sack in the 1st quarter. Later, Rodriguez deflected a pass that led to an interception by teammate Quincy Ledet Jr., setting up a crucial scoring drive. His most decisive play came late in the game when he forced a fumble from Arizona's standout receiver Tetairoa McMillian, helping to secure the win for Texas Tech.
Rodriguez was the highest-graded defensive player in the nation for Week 6 according to Pro Football Focus (PFF), which tracks detailed player metrics.
Rodriguez leads the Red Raiders in tackles this season, amassing 54 total tackles and 4.5 tackles for loss in six games. Texas Tech now enters a bye week before hosting Baylor on October 19.
