SANTA CLARA, CA — The Dallas Cowboys looked better coming out of a Bye Week than they did two weeks ago after a blowout loss to the Detroit Lions, but the Cowboys still fell to the San Francisco 49ers in Santa Clara on Sunday.
A dominant 3rd Quarter against Dallas proved all the 49ers needed to secure a victory. Dallas entered halftime clinging to a 10-6 lead after Zeke Elliott capped off an 11-play, 65-yard drive in the 2nd quarter.
San Francisco came out of the break hot. The 49ers rookie runningback scored early in the 2nd half to take the lead in the game that San Francisco would not surrender again. San Fran scored 21 points in the 3rd quarter, thanks to Dak Prescott's second interception of the night. 49ers George Kittle shone brightly in the win. He hauled in six catches for 128 yards and a touchdown on National Tight Ends Day.
Dallas mounted a comeback in the 4th quarter. San Francisco took their foot off the gas pedal too soon and allowed two 4th-quarter touchdowns from Prescott to CeeDee Lamb. Down 30-24 with three minutes left to play, Dallas had one final opportunity to put points on the board. However, it was not meant to be. Prescott threw four straight incompletions and turned the ball over back to the 49ers offense.
Prescott finished 25 for 38 for 243 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. Lamb caught 13 passes for 146 yards.
The Cowboys return to the drawing board until next week when Dallas faces the Falcons in Atlanta next Sunday. San Francisco enters their bye week, but returns on November 10 at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
