Texans Star Wideout Stefon Diggs Out for the Season

HOUSTON, TX — The Houston Texans will have to finish the 2024 season without star wide receiver Stefon Diggs, who sustained a torn ACL on a noncontact play in Houston's 23-20 win over the Indianapolis Colts last Sunday. Head coach DeMeco Ryans confirmed Tuesday, October 29, that Diggs will miss the remainder of the season.

Diggs, acquired from the Buffalo Bills during the offseason, ranked seventh in the NFL with 47 catches and was second on the Texans with 496 yards. Known for his consistent production, the four-time Pro Bowl selection has posted six consecutive 1,000-yard seasons, including a league-leading 1,535 yards in 2020.

The Texans are also missing top receiver Nico Collins, who remains on injured reserve with a hamstring injury. With both Diggs and Collins sidelined, second-year receiver Tank Dell will need to step up. Dell, who recorded 709 yards and seven touchdowns as a rookie before a season-ending leg injury, has struggled to replicate that production this season. Dell has only 229 yards so far in 2024. However, he found the end zone in Sunday’s victory. Houston moved to 6-2 with the win and remained first in the AFC South.

The Texans return to action on Thursday, October 31, on the road against the struggling New York Jets. Kickoff is slated for 7:15 p.m.
