Post Remains Undefeated in Dominant Showing Against Floydada

POST, TX — The Post Antelopes hosted a district matchup against the Floydada Whirlwinds at Jimmie Redman Memorial Stadium in Post on Friday night, November 1. Post proved too tough to match early and showed precisely why the Antelopes remain undefeated with a 73-3 thumping of the Whirlwinds.

Watch the game highlights below:

Post’s runningback, Ian Vergara, showed up and showed out in another dominating performance. In the first half alone, he carried the ball 14 times for 148 yards and five touchdowns. Post quickly took control in the 1st quarter and never looked back.

On defense, the Antelopes swarmed Floydada’s passing attack, never allowing Ty Henderson to get comfortable in the pocket. Post gave up a few first downs throughout the first two quarters, but it was not until time winding down in the 2nd quarter that the Whirlwinds got on the board. Floydada kicked a 33-yard field goal but trailed late in the 2nd quarter, 38-3.

Post managed two more touchdowns before halftime. Landyn Garcia hit Keyandre Jefferson on a deep ball to push the score to 46-3. After a quick 3-and-out, Post’s defense blocked its second punt of the evening. Colton Hawkins picked up the loose ball and returned the blocked punt for a touchdown. The Antelopes headed to the locker room at the half, up 53-3.

Unfortunately for the Whirlwinds, they never managed to make a game out of the contest. Post three more touchdowns in the second half to claim another district victory, 73-3.

The Antelopes now look forward to the defacto District Championship game against Abernathy. Post travels to Abernathy on Friday, November 8. Kickoff in that matchup is scheduled for 7 p.m.
