KANSAS CITY, MO — After a dramatic 2-1 victory over Baylor, Texas Tech’s No. 17 ranked women’s soccer team will face Kansas on Wednesday in the Big 12 Championship Semifinals at CPKC Stadium. Set for a 7 p.m. kickoff, this match brings the Red Raiders one step closer to their first Big 12 title game appearance since 2015.
This is the first meeting of the season between Texas Tech (14-3-2) and Kansas (11-5-4), marking their first face-off since 2022. Kansas reached the semifinals following a pair of tightly contested one-goal victories over Arizona State and West Virginia. Meanwhile, Texas Tech’s route to the semifinals included Saturday’s comeback win over Baylor, powered by goals from Taylor Zdrojewski and Storie Sexton. Zdrojewski’s header tied the score early in the first half, and Sexton’s goal on the rebound just before halftime sealed the win.
For Texas Tech, a victory Wednesday would mean a berth in Saturday’s Big 12 Championship final, where they would face either TCU or BYU.

Road to the Semifinals

Their win over Baylor marked their first come-from-behind victory of the season after Baylor scored within the first five minutes. Texas Tech responded quickly, with Zdrojewski scoring just minutes later and Sexton adding the decisive goal. This was also the Red Raiders’ 14th win this season, a repeat of last year’s total under head coach Tom Stone.
- Texas Tech’s last Big 12 Championship Game appearance was in 2015, where they defeated Kansas 1-0.
- This season’s semifinal match is Texas Tech’s first against Kansas in over two years; they last played on Oct. 16, 2022, with Tech winning 2-0.
- Saturday’s win over Baylor improved the Red Raiders' record to 30-1-9 over the past 40 matches when scoring at least one goal.
If they advance, Texas Tech will look to continue its momentum and end the tournament with its first-ever Big 12 Championship title.
