LUBBOCK, TX — After an almost flawless performance on Thursday night, the Monterey Plainsmen are 2024 Bi-District Champions. Monterey hosted El Paso Bel Air at Lowrey Field in the first round of the 2024 playoffs. The Plainsmen dominated the Highlanders in every facet of this football game to advance to the Area Round, 63-0.

It's hard to decide which was more impressive on Thursday night. Monterey's offensive efficiency or their dominant defense. The Plainsmen jumped out to a 28-0 lead midway through the 1st quarter and never looked back. While Bel Air did their best to respond to the offensive explosion; the Highlanders struggled to move the ball past midfield for the entire first half.
The Plainsmen took a 42-0 lead headed into the break.

In the 2nd half, several backups and younger players had their chance to shine. The Plainsmen added another 21 points to their total before the final whistle sounded. The Plainsmen claimed victory, 63-0.
After the game, Head Coach Judd Thrash talked about how important it was that his team continues to grow together. He knew that Monterey had the size and speed advantage in this matchup and expected the Plainsmen to dominate. Monterey delivered.

The Plainsmen return to action next week in the Area Round against Denton Ryan. This matchup will prove to be a tough one for the Plainsmen, and it will take all they have learned and more to claim a victory. The Date and Time of this matchup is still TBD.
