Texas Tech Football Makes Coaching Changes

LUBBOCK, TX – Texas Tech head coach Joey McGuire announced Sunday two changes to his coaching staff as defensive coordinator Tim DeRuyter and defensive passing game coordinator and secondary coach Marcel Yates will not return for the 2025 season. Both changes are effective immediately.

“I appreciate the work Coach DeRuyter and Coach Yates have provided our program the past three seasons,” McGuire said. “This was a difficult but necessary decision as we continue to elevate this program to competing annually at the highest levels of college football.”

Texas Tech will announce its coaching assignments for its upcoming bowl appearance at a later date.

The Red Raiders come off a dominant win over West Virginia last Saturday and still have a bowl game to play this season.
