WOLFFORTH, TX — Frenship Tigers quarterback Holden Phillips has been named a finalist by Dave Campbell's Texas Football for 6A Quarterback of the year for his performance during the 2024 season.
This year, Panini America, a licensed sports trading cards and collectibles company, and Dave Campbell's Texas Football teamed up to honor the top high school quarterbacks in the state of Texas. Each week during the 2024 regular season, one top quarterback from each high school classification was named Quarterback of the Week. At the end of the regular season, one Quarterback from all weekly winners will earn the prestigious Quarterback of the Year award as voted on by Texas high school football fans.
Holden Phillips was one such quarterback. Phillips led the Tigers to a 10-2 overall record this year in a season that ended in the 2nd round of the playoffs. Frenship fell to current state semifinalist Southlake Carroll, 49-42 in Abilene in the Area Round.
Phillips led District 2-6A in passing this season with 4438 yards through the air. He completed 75% of his passes and added 57 touchdowns to only seven interceptions. Phillips was instrumental to the Tigers District 2-6A Championship and Bi-District Championship this season.
