LUBBOCK, TX – Federiko Federiko delivered a standout performance with a career-high 23 points and 12 rebounds, and Chance McMillian added 20 points and five assists to lead Texas Tech to an 86-50 victory over Oral Roberts on Monday night at United Supermarkets Arena. The win extended the Red Raiders’ non-conference home winning streak to 37 games.
The Red Raiders (8-2) jumped out to a 10-0 lead and later mounted a 17-0 first-half run, stifling the Golden Eagles (3-8) to just 18 made field goals. Texas Tech shot 53.1% from the field (34-of-64), including 10-for-29 from three-point range, while forcing 15 turnovers.
“Our ability to guard consistently was the difference,” Head Coach Grant McCasland said after the game. “We just played better on that end, which led to early baskets in transition. I was thrilled with our start. Federiko was unbelievable tonight—his composure, aggressiveness, and floor game were tremendous.”
Individual Highlights
- Federiko Federiko: Achieved his first double-double of the season and third of his career, shooting 11-for-13 from the field and recording a career-high five assists.
- Chance McMillian: Scored 20 points for the third consecutive game and added five assists with only one turnover. McMillian is now averaging 16.1 points per game this season.
- Darrion Williams: Tallied a game-high nine assists along with 10 points.
- Christian Anderson: Contributed 11 points off the bench, hitting three three-pointers.
Texas Tech outscored Oral Roberts 46-10 in the paint despite the absence of JT Toppin, who missed his third consecutive game due to a lower-body injury.
The Red Raiders dominated early, taking a 41-19 halftime lead while shooting 58.6% from the field. Federiko led with 14 points and seven rebounds in the first half, while McMillian contributed 15 points. The team held Oral Roberts to 21.4% shooting in the opening half and built a 24-4 scoring edge in the paint.
McMillian’s fast-break layup capped the decisive 17-0 run, giving Tech a 31-13 lead with five minutes left in the half.
Texas Tech concludes its non-conference schedule on Saturday at noon, hosting Lamar (5-5). The Cardinals are riding a four-game winning streak, including a 74-45 victory over Louisiana.
The Red Raiders are 4-1 all-time against Lamar, with their most recent meeting resulting in an 89-57 win in 2021. Lamar is led by head coach Alvin Brooks, a former Texas Tech assistant who worked alongside McCasland during his tenure as Tech’s director of operations.
After Saturday, Texas Tech will begin Big 12 play at home against UCF (7-2) on December 31, followed by road games at Utah (January 4) and BYU (January 7).
