WOLFFORTH, TX — The Frenship Tigers hosted the Central Bobcats for the opening of District 2-6A play on Friday night. A strong 3rd quarter put the Tigers up big before a furious comeback from Central in the 4th quarter made it close. However, the Tigers made their free throws when it mattered as Frenship held off the Bobcats 75-69.

Central jumped out to an 11-point lead early, taking advantage of several Frenship turnovers to start the game. In the 2nd quarter, efficient three-point shooting allowed the Tigers to crawl back into to it to cut the Bobcats lead to 1-point just before the break.
In the 3rd quarter, Frenship's defense came alive. Central turned the ball over multiple times in transition and allowed the Tigers to build a solid lead entering the 4th quarter. However, the Bobcats made several threes in a row to pull back within 1-point with just over two minutes to play. Frenship then played an incredibly skilled game of keep away for the next minute and a half to put the game out of reach essentially.
Central had to foul to get the ball back but did not manage any points on their final possessions to close the gap. The Tigers made their free throws at the line to put the game away and claimed a 1-0 district start with a 75-69 win.
Chase Campbell led all scorers on Friday night with 28 points
TK Taylor and Christian English led the Bobcats with 16 points each.
Next up, the Tigers hit the road to face off with the Midland High Bulldogs on Tuesday, January 14. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
The Bobcats return to action at home on Tuesday, January 14, when Central hosts the Odessa High Bronchos in San Angelo. Tip-off in that matchup is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
