LUBBOCK, TX — The Lubbock Cooper Liberty Lady Patriots hosted the Estacado Lady Matadors on Tuesday night. The Lady Patriots kept the contest close throughout the first half, but Estacado’s defense and trips to the free throw line helped them pull away for a 47-37 win.

The game started quickly, as the Estacado Lady Matadors came out with a defensive game plan. Foul trouble kept the Lady Patriots in the contest as they hit 5 of 6 free shots at the line. On the other hand, the Lady Matadors found success from beyond the arc. They used quick passing to create some open shots in the corner for 3-point shooter Danali Perez. By halftime, Estacado had built a 7-point lead, with the score at 27-20.
The 3rd quarter was not much different. Any time the Lady Patriots tried to adjust their game plan, the Lady Matador defense stayed tight. A few pick-and-rolls led to fouls, and nearly half of the game’s points came from the free-throw line. Estacado sealed the win as the clock wound down, 47-37.
Estacado’s Danali Perez led all scorers on Tuesday night with 16 points.
Lubbock Cooper Liberty’s Alyssa Ferguson let the Lady Patriots with 11 points, Abby Dallas scored 9, and Baylee Fillingam scored 8.
The Estacado Lady Matadors head down to San Angelo to take on the Lake View Lady Chiefs. Tip-off is scheduled for Friday, January 17, at 6:15 p.m.
The Lubbock Cooper Lady Patriots travel to Big Spring in a matchup against the Big Spring Lady Steers. Tip-off for that game is also scheduled for Friday, January 17, at 6:15 p.m.
