SHALLOWATER, TX — The Shallowater Fillies hosted the Littlefield Wildcats in a tight district matchup on Friday night. The game was neck and neck until the 4th quarter, where the Fillies played lockdown defense. A 7-point rally in the final 5 minutes helped Shallowater seal the win, 54-44, and keep their perfect district record intact at 11-0.

The Fillies started off slow after a quick 5-point run by the Wildcats forced a shift in their game plan. Once things clicked, both teams traded baskets, keeping it close throughout the night. Trips to the line and points in the paint helped Littlefield reclaim the lead, but a big run from Shallowater put them back on top. By halftime, the Fillies led 25-20.
After the break, the Wildcats came out with a start similar to the first half, hitting a few quick baskets to close the gap and keep things tight. By the end of the 3rd, Shallowater had pushed their lead back to 5. Littlefield got into foul trouble, sending the Fillies to the line multiple times and extending their lead. The Wildcats had a few chances to make a run, but the Shallowater defense held on and closed out the game 54-44.
Shallowater’s Linley Wright led all scorers on Friday night with 19 points, Carli Buckley scored 10, and Maggie Grimes scored 9.
Littlefield’s Audi Castillo led the Wildcats with 15 points, Cali Saldana scored 11, and Amoni Jefferson scored 6.
The Shallowater Fillies travel to Friona to take on the Chieftans on Tuesday, January 28. Tip-off is scheduled at 6:15 p.m.
The Littlefield Wildcats will host the Muleshoe Mules on Tuesday, January 28. Tip-off for that game is also scheduled for 6:15 p.m.
