IRVING, TX – With the season just 22 days away, Texas Tech Baseball has been projected to finish fifth in the 2025 Big 12 Preseason Poll, as announced by the league on Thursday afternoon. Outfielder Damian Bravo was also named to the Preseason All-Big 12 Team.
The Red Raiders received 111 points, securing a top-five preseason ranking for the 11th consecutive year. The streak dates back to 2014, when Tech was projected eighth in the preseason but went on to finish fourth in the Big 12 standings and clinch the program’s first-ever College World Series appearance in Omaha. That breakthrough led to four Omaha trips in six seasons (2014, 2016, 2018, 2019).
Damian Bravo, the 2024 Big 12 batting champion, was one of 16 players named to the Preseason All-Big 12 Team. Bravo had a standout 2024 season, hitting .378 with 21 doubles, 52 runs scored, and 44 RBIs. His .378 batting average ranked 17th in Texas Tech history and was the highest in a full season since Josh Jung’s .392 mark in 2018. Bravo also ranked 60th nationally in batting average and ninth in doubles per game.
