Texas Tech’s Calum Scott Named to Ben Hogan Award Watch List

FORT WORTH, TX — Texas Tech senior Calum Scott has been named to the watch list for the 2025 Ben Hogan Award, the Hogan Trophy Award Foundation announced Wednesday. The annual honor is awarded to the top men’s NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA, or NJCAA college golfer, considering performances in all collegiate, amateur, and professional events over the past 12 months.

Scott, currently ranked No. 19 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings, will begin the spring portion of his senior season at Texas Tech from Feb. 6-8 at the Amer Ari Intercollegiate at Mauna Lani Golf Club in Hawai'i. He also holds the No. 12 spot in the PGA TOUR U rankings entering the spring.

Scott posted a 72.1 scoring average in three events and nine rounds during the fall. His junior season was highlighted by an 11th-place finish at the NCAA Championships, earning him honorable mention All-American honors. He continued his strong play over the summer, earning the Silver Medal at the 152nd Open at Royal Troon.

This year’s Ben Hogan Award watch list includes 16 seniors, 10 juniors, and nine sophomores. Nine schools have multiple golfers on the list, with Arizona State and Auburn leading the way with three each.

Several players on the list have past ties to the award, including Jackson Koivun (Auburn), the 2024 Ben Hogan Award winner, and Gordon Sargent (Vanderbilt), a two-time finalist (2023, 2024). Other returning semifinalists include David Ford (North Carolina), Luke Clanton (Florida State), Ben James (Virginia), and Preston Summerhays (Arizona State).

An esteemed selection committee comprised of more than 30 leaders in collegiate, amateur, and professional golf votes at each stage of the selection process. The 10 semifinalists, which may include players not on the watch list, will be announced on April 17, followed by the selection of three finalists on May 6. The finalists will attend a black-tie dinner at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas, on May 19, where the winner will be announced.

The Ben Hogan Award has recognized the top amateur collegiate golfer at Colonial Country Club since 2002. The original Ben Hogan Trophy, awarded with different criteria, was first presented at Bel-Air Country Club in Los Angeles in 1990.

Past recipients of the award have combined for 85 worldwide victories, including 68 PGA TOUR wins, and have earned more than $450 million in PGA TOUR prize money. Additionally, past winners have made 17 Ryder Cup appearances and 12 Presidents Cup appearances.

Since 2002, the Hogan Trophy Award Foundation has provided over $900,000 in scholarships to more than 30 universities.
