LUBBOCK, TX — Texas Tech’s 2025 football schedule was finalized Tuesday with the release of the full Big 12 slate, featuring the Red Raiders opening conference play on September 20 at Utah before hosting Kansas on October 11 in the first of four league home games.
The Red Raiders will begin the season with three consecutive home games for the first time since 2005, kicking off the campaign against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Aug. 30. Non-conference matchups against Kent State (Sept. 6) and Oregon State (Sept. 13) follow before Texas Tech begins Big 12 play on the road.
Non-Conference Schedule:
- Aug. 30 vs. Arkansas-Pine Bluff – The Red Raiders face the Golden Lions for the first time in program history.
- Sept. 6 vs. Kent State – Texas Tech meets a Mid-American Conference (MAC) opponent for the first time since the 1948 Sun Bowl.
- Sept. 13 vs. Oregon State – The Red Raiders host Oregon State to begin a home-and-home series. Texas Tech won the only previous matchup, 15-14, in 1959.
Big 12 Conference Schedule:
- Sept. 20 at Utah – Texas Tech visits Salt Lake City for the first time, having won the only two previous meetings in 1972 and 1973.
- Oct. 4 at Houston – The Red Raiders make their first trip to face the Cougars as conference foes since their Southwest Conference days. Texas Tech has won the last six meetings.
- Oct. 11 vs. Kansas – The Jayhawks serve as Texas Tech’s conference home opener for the first time since 2016. The Red Raiders lead the all-time series 23-2.
- Oct. 18 at Arizona State – Texas Tech looks for its first road win in Tempe after previous losses in 1999 and 2016.
- Oct. 25 vs. Oklahoma State – The Red Raiders welcome the Cowboys back to Lubbock for the first time since 2021, with the all-time series tied at 24-24-3.
- Nov. 1 at Kansas State – Texas Tech seeks to snap an eight-game losing streak to the Wildcats and earn its first win in Manhattan since 2008.
- Nov. 8 vs. BYU – The Red Raiders host BYU for the first time as a Big 12 opponent. The Cougars won the most recent matchup in 2023.
- Nov. 15 vs. UCF – Texas Tech faces the Knights for just the second time, having edged UCF 24-23 in 2023.
- Nov. 29 at West Virginia – The Red Raiders close the regular season in Morgantown for the first time, following a 52-15 win over the Mountaineers in 2024.
Schedule notes:
- Texas Tech will play eight of its 12 games in Texas, including seven home games and an Oct. 4 road trip to Houston.
- The Red Raiders open Big 12 play with consecutive road games for only the fifth time in program history.
- Texas Tech has two open dates: Sept. 27 between games against Utah and Houston, and Nov. 22 following its home finale against UCF.
- The Red Raiders and West Virginia both share an open date before their Nov. 29 matchup.
Game times and television designations for Texas Tech’s non-conference games will be announced this summer. Big 12 matchups will be assigned TV slots on either a six-day or 12-day selection window.
Season tickets for the 2025 season are now on sale through the Texas Tech Athletic Ticket Office. Current season ticket holders have until Feb. 28 to renew their seats, with an upgrade process set for late March. Texas Tech offers an interest-free payment plan and priority access to postseason and away game tickets for season ticket holders.
