A Dozen Frenship Athletes Sign on National Signing Day

 

WOLFFORTH, TX — Frenship High School hosted a signing ceremony on Wednesday, February 5, for 11 student-athletes who committed to play at the collegiate level.

Frenship High School celebrated the signing of 11 student-athletes across a range of sports. Kedan Burch was the sole girls’ basketball signee, while Amithys Perez committed to continuing her softball career at the collegiate level. Collin Lucero was the lone boys' soccer signee. In baseball, Huter Hicks and James Dean each signed with different universities. Drew Cox, Maverick Allen, Grayson Page, and Bryce Garza all committed to playing football at the next level. Olivia Whitfield and Boston Morin will continue their volleyball careers, and though Lauren Villegas also signed to play volleyball, she was unable to attend due to illness.

Kedan Burch currently plays girl's basketball for the Frenship Tigers. Kedan will continue her career in basketball and play at Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas. Howard Payne is a private Baptist university in the American Southwest Conference in the NCAA Division III. They compete against schools like the University of Dallas, Austin College, and McMurray University.

Amithys Perez put pen to paper and signed to play softball at Seward County College in Liberal, Kentucky. Seward County is a community college that is in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference in the NJCAA.

Collin Lucero played soccer for the Frenship Tigers and is signing to play at Oklahoma Wesleyan University in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. OKWU is a private university and is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.

The Frenship Tigers had two student-athletes sign to play baseball at the collegiate level. James Dean (JD) McCord signed to Hesston College in Hesston, Kansas. Hesston College is a private college participating in the National Junior College Athletic Association. Hunter Hicks signed to Kansas City Community College in Kansas City, Kansas. KCCC is a two-year community college and participates in the NJCAA as well.

Three volleyball players put pen to paper on Wednesday to pursue their career at the collegiate level. Olivia Whitfield signed with Amarillo College, and Boston Morin signed with East Texas Baptist University to play beach volleyball. Lauren Villegas committed to Oklahoma Christian University to play volleyball but was not in attendance due to an illness. Amarillo College is a public community college, and East Texas Baptist is a private university in Marshall, Texas. Oklahoma Christian University is a private Christian university in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Drew Cox, Maverick Allen, Grayson Page, and Bryce Garza all signed to play football at different universities in Texas. Drew Cox was a kicker for the Frenship Tigers and signed to West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas. Maverick Allen was a cornerback and wide receiver for the Tigers and signed to Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. Grayson Page played center, guard, and defensive end for Frenship and is signed to Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, Texas. Bryce Garza played cornerback for the Tigers and is signed to North Texas University in Denton, Texas. North Texas and Stephen F. Austin are Division I schools, and West Texas A&M and Midwestern State are Division II schools.
