The Red Raiders (18-5, 9-3 Big 12) are coming off an 82-73 road loss to No. 20 Arizona, which snapped their seven-game winning streak. Despite the loss, Texas Tech remains in third place in the Big 12 standings behind Houston and Arizona (both 11-1) and has surged to No. 8 in the NCAA NET rankings and No. 9 in KenPom.

Texas Tech is 12-2 at home this season and has posted its best 12-game start to Big 12 play in program history. The Red Raiders will now host Arizona State (12-11, 3-9 Big 12), which has dropped three straight games, including an 86-73 loss at Oklahoma State on Sunday.

The game will tip off at 8 p.m. and will be televised on CBS Sports Network. The radio broadcast will be available on Double T 97.3 and the Varsity app.

Head coach Grant McCasland emphasized his team’s focus on continuous improvement rather than dwelling on wins and losses.

“You’re in one-game seasons,” McCasland said. “It’s about how you approach each day and find ways to get better. Our team has always responded well to adversity. My message is to focus on being better players and people—that will give us the result we want in the end.”

Texas Tech ranks second in the Big 12 in 3-point shooting percentage (38.0%) and made 3-pointers per game (9.6). The team is also second in effective field goal percentage (55.7%) and third in scoring offense (80.7 points per game).

Leading the way are Chance McMillian and JT Toppin, who each average 15.2 points per game. Darrion Williams adds 14.8 points per contest. Point guard Elijah Hawkins leads the Big 12 with 6.3 assists per game and is coming off a 12-assist performance against Arizona.

Toppin, who recorded his eighth double-double of the season against Arizona (21 points, 13 rebounds), is third in the conference in rebounding.

The Sun Devils have five players averaging double figures, led by BJ Freeman (12.9 ppg). Freeman did not play in ASU’s last game against Oklahoma State.

Jaden Quaintance, who leads the Big 12 in blocked shots (2.82 per game), also averages 9.5 points and 8.2 rebounds per contest.

Wednesday’s game marks the first Big 12 matchup between Texas Tech and Arizona State. The Red Raiders lead the all-time series 22-19 but have lost six straight to the Sun Devils. The teams last met in 2013, with ASU winning 76-62 in Tempe.

Tech has dominated at home in the series, holding a 16-4 record against ASU in Lubbock. The two teams will meet again in the regular-season finale on March 8 in Tempe.
