No. 12 Texas Tech Faces Roadtrip at Oklahoma State

 

STILLWATER, OK — No. 12 Texas Tech will look to complete a season sweep of Oklahoma State when the teams meet for a Big 12 matchup on Saturday at Gallagher-Iba Arena. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m., with the game airing on ESPN+ and the Texas Tech Sports Network.

The Red Raiders (19-5, 10-3 Big 12) won the first meeting 64-54 on Jan. 26 in Lubbock, led by Chance McMillian’s 14 points. Texas Tech, currently third in the Big 12 standings, is coming off a dramatic 111-106 double-overtime win against Arizona State on Wednesday. Freshman JT Toppin scored a career-high 41 points on 17-for-22 shooting, the highest point total in a Big 12 game this season and 10th in the nation. Darrion Williams added a season-high 27 points in the highest-scoring Big 12 game in program history.

Oklahoma State (12-12, 4-9 Big 12) enters Saturday’s game following a 73-72 loss at TCU on Wednesday, where a last-second 3-pointer sealed the Cowboys’ defeat. Bryce Thompson led OSU with 17 points and three assists, matching his total from the previous game against Texas Tech. Machelus Avery leads the Cowboys in scoring at 12.2 points per game, while former Red Raider Robert Jennings has started all 24 games, averaging 6.1 points and 3.5 rebounds. OSU ranks first in the Big 12 in free throws made per game (17.8) and second in turnovers forced (14.4).

Texas Tech leads the conference in field-goal percentage (48.2%) and ranks second in scoring (82.0 points per game), 3-point shooting (38.1%) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.55). Toppin leads the Red Raiders in scoring (16.5 ppg), rebounding (9.0 RPG), and double-doubles (9), ranking third in the Big 12 in rebounding and fifth in scoring. Williams (15.3 ppg) is eighth in conference scoring, while McMillian (15.2 ppg) leads the Big 12 in 3-point shooting (43.8%). Elijah Hawkins tops the conference in assists (6.4 apg).

A victory Saturday would give Texas Tech back-to-back 20-win seasons under head coach Grant McCasland. The Red Raiders follow the OSU game with a trip to TCU on Tuesday before hosting West Virginia on Feb. 22.
