Texas Tech Student Who Nails Full-Court Putt Wins Free Tuition

LUBBOCK, TX — A Texas Tech student became a viral sensation after hitting an unbelievable full-court golf putt during halftime at Monday night’s basketball game against No. 4 Houston.

During a commercial break in the game, Blake Porter took part in a challenge where he had to put a golf ball the full length of the basketball court into a small cut-out hole. The ball rolled down the court and perfectly went into the hole, and the crowd at United Supermarkets Arena went wild.

While celebrating his grand shot, Porter looked across the court and saw Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and Texas Tech alum Patrick Mahomes.  The two celebrated with a shoulder bump.

After his shot blew up on social media, Porter got the chance to appear on the TODAY Show to talk about the crazy experience. He shared how wild it was to make the shot and celebrated with Mahomes.

But the surprises didn’t end there.

Mahomes recorded a video and shared a huge announcement with Porter on the TODAY Show. Texas Tech Athletics would cover Porter’s tuition in the fall, and Adidas would make him an honorary member of Team Mahomes.

Thanks to that amazing putt, he became an overnight sensation, earning a full scholarship and a special shout-out from one of Texas Tech’s biggest legends.
