Texas Tech Leads Pinetree Women’s Collegiate After Two Rounds

KENNESAW, GA — Behind a strong one-two punch from Danique Stokmans and Maja Ambroziak, the Texas Tech women’s golf team sits atop the leaderboard after two rounds at the Pinetree Women’s Collegiate on Monday at Pinetree Country Club.

The Red Raiders combined to shoot a 6-over-par 574 (289-285) on the day, giving them a three-shot lead over both Notre Dame and South Alabama heading into Tuesday’s final round.

Stokmans led the charge with back-to-back rounds of 1-under-par 70, placing her in second individually at 2-under 140, just one shot off the tournament lead. The senior capped her second round with 12 consecutive bogey-free holes, including four birdies, marking her best 36-hole performance of the season and her first consecutive under-par rounds this year.

Ambroziak followed closely behind, tied for seventh at 1-over 143. She opened with an even-par 71 and followed with a 1-over 72 in the second round, notching her 10th under-par round of the season and her first since the FAU Paradise Invitational in early February.

Klara Hurtova, who claimed her first victory last time out, continues to ride the momentum of her win as she sits in 11th place to round out a trio of Red Raiders in the top 20 at the Pinetree Women's Collegiate. She is 2-over-par behind rounds of 74 (+3) and 70 (-1).

The third and final round tees off at 9 a.m. EDT. Texas Tech will be seeking its second straight win at the PinetreeWomen's Collegiate, having won the event in 2016 in its last appearance.
