LUBBOCK, TX – Lubbock ISD has officially announced Jose Perez as the new head coach for the Lubbock High School boys' basketball program.
Perez, a Lubbock High School graduate, brings six years of coaching experience to the position. He most recently coached at Estacado High School, where he led the Matadors to several district and area championships and a 2025 appearance in the UIL State Semifinals.
In addition to his coaching experience at Estacado, Perez has held coaching positions at both the high school and middle school levels in Lubbock ISD and Petersburg ISD.
His roles have included head coach, assistant coach, and defensive coordinator for basketball, football, track, and cross country. Perez also has over 10 years of experience coaching AAU basketball.
“I’m honored to lead the boys basketball program at the school that shaped me,” Perez said. “Lubbock High holds a special place in my heart, and I’m excited to help our athletes grow as players, students, and young men.”
Perez is the father of three sons: Jaden, Jordan, and Jaylon. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, playing sports, and spending time with his family.
