Texas Tech Hosts Cincinnati in Key Big 12 Baseball Series

LUBBOCK, TX – Texas Tech Baseball begins a pivotal stretch of back-to-back Big 12 home series this weekend as Cincinnati visits Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park for a three-game set beginning Friday at 2 p.m.

The Red Raiders (8-17, 4-5 Big 12) return to Lubbock after a four-game road trip and will look to rebound against a Bearcats squad (17-11, 4-5) they defeated 10-5 in their first-ever meeting last season at the Big 12 Championship in Arlington.

Game two is scheduled for Saturday at 2 p.m., and Sunday’s finale is set for 1 p.m. The finale will also serve as the first of two "Bark in the Park" promotions, allowing fans to bring their dogs to the ballpark (waiver and size restrictions apply).

Projected Pitching Matchups
Friday: RHP Mac Heuer (TTU, 1-2, 5.18 ERA) vs. RHP Nathan Taylor (UC, 4-0, 2.70 ERA)
Saturday: RHP Tyler Boudreau (TTU, 1-1, 8.20 ERA) vs. LHP Kellen O’Connor (UC, 0-0, 5.16 ERA)
Sunday: RHP Zane Petty (TTU, 0-1, 3.71 ERA) vs. TBA

The weekend marks the beginning of a crucial April for Tech, which will play 12 of its next 17 games at home, including Big 12 series against Cincinnati, Baylor (April 11–13) and Arizona (April 25–27). The month also features home non-conference games against UTRGV and Abilene Christian.

Despite the slow start, the Red Raiders remain inside the top 80 of the RPI rankings thanks to the nation’s toughest strength of schedule. Texas Tech has already faced seven top-75 RPI opponents this season, including No. 9 Oklahoma, No. 11 Texas, No. 15 North Carolina, and No. 16 Kansas State. Cincinnati enters the weekend with an RPI of 61.
