Texas Tech Women's Golf Finishes Second at Veritex Bank Collegiate

DALLAS, TX — The Texas Tech women's golf team earned a second-place finish at the Veritex Bank Collegiate at Trinity Forest Golf Club, hosted by SMU, on Tuesday. The Red Raiders were led by senior Kylee Loewe, who claimed her first career Top 10 finish, placing tied for seventh, with a 1-over-par 217 following rounds of 73-73-71 on the par 72 course.

The Red Raiders shot a team 3-over-par 291 in Tuesday's final round to complete the tournament 7-over-par (871). The Red Raiders entered Tuesday atop the team leaderboard after Monday's first two rounds but were ultimately topped by two shots by tournament champion Houston, who rallied with a final round 4-under-par 284 to finish the 54-hole event 5-over-par (869).

Loewe's Top 10 effort on Tuesday was a late rally. She was 3-over-par after her first eight holes but bounced back going 5-under-par over her next nine before a blemish on the final hole, a bogey to drop back to a 1-under 71. Loewe's 54-hole 1-over-par 217 is her second-lowest score of the 2024-25 season, second to only her 54-hole career-low set earlier this season at the Jim West Challenge (2-under 214).

Junior Lauren Zaretsky accounted for the Red Raiders' second-lowest round carded on Tuesday with an even-par 72. The 2024 NCAA Regional qualifier was playing back to form after rounds of 80 and 77 on Monday, which set her back to finishing tied for 42nd on the final leaderboard.

First-year transfer senior Danique Stokmans, who recorded her top finish as a Red Raider last time out, finishing T-12th, rolled that performance into a new top finish by earning a tie for 11th this week at the Veritex Bank Collegiate. Stokmans shot a 1-over-par 73 on Tuesday to finish 3-over-par (219) for the tournament. Her back-to-back Top 20s give her three for the season dating back to her first Top 20 in the fall, which took place at the Red Raider Invitational.

Klara Hurtova and Maja Ambroziak each tied for 15th place, giving the Red Raiders four Top 20 finishers this week. Hurtova accounted for the Red Raiders' fourth countable score on Tuesday, a 3-over-par 75, while Ambroziak dropped from sixth to 15th behind a final round 5-over-par 77.

The Veritex Bank Collegiate marks Texas Tech's final regular-season event of its 2024-25 campaign. It will now look ahead to the Big 12 Championships, April 15-17, hosted at The Clubs at Houston Oaks.
