Texas Tech is looking to snap a three-series losing streak, having dropped series to TCU, Kansas State and Cincinnati. A loss this weekend would mark the program’s first time losing three straight home series since 2013.
Unlike previous Tech-Baylor series, weather is not expected to impact this weekend’s games. Saturday and Sunday could challenge high-temperature records, with projected first pitch temperatures of 89 and 92 degrees, respectively.
Tech currently holds the No. 2 strength of schedule in the country (per Warren Nolan) and ranks No. 6 in non-conference strength of schedule. Only three of the team’s games have been against Quad 4 opponents.
The Red Raiders are in a home-heavy portion of the schedule, playing 12 of 17 games in April at Rip Griffin Park. The stretch includes series against Baylor, Arizona, and a midweek set with UTRGV.
Texas Tech heads to Arizona State next weekend for a Thursday–Saturday series in Tempe. First pitch is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. CT on April 17, 9 p.m. CT on April 18, and 3 p.m. CT on April 19.
