Braxton Fulford Called Up to Rockies After Hot Start in Triple-A

LOS ANGELES, CA — Former Texas Tech catcher Braxton Fulford has been called up to the Colorado Rockies, the team announced Monday.

The move comes after the Rockies placed infielder/outfielder Kris Bryant on the 10-day injured list. Fulford joins the club in Los Angeles ahead of a three-game series against the Dodgers.

Fulford, a sixth-round pick in the 2021 MLB Draft, had been off to a blistering start with Triple-A Albuquerque, batting .395 with five home runs and 10 RBIs through 12 games.

A Lubbock native and Texas Tech standout, Fulford was a Buster Posey Award semifinalist and a CoSIDA Academic All-American during his collegiate career. He becomes the latest in a growing list of Red Raiders to reach the major leagues.

Fulford is expected to make his MLB debut sometime during the Rockies’ road trip.
