Baltimore Ravens Release Justin Tucker

OWINGS MILLS, MD — The Baltimore Ravens released kicker Justin Tucker on Monday, ending the tenure of the NFL’s most accurate kicker amid an ongoing league investigation into multiple allegations of sexual misconduct.

Tucker, 35, was the longest-tenured player on the Ravens and the final remaining member of the franchise’s 2012 Super Bowl championship team. His release comes as he faces accusations from 16 massage therapists across eight Baltimore-area spas, according to an investigative report by The Baltimore Banner. The alleged misconduct reportedly occurred between 2012 and 2016, the first five seasons of Tucker’s NFL career.

Some speculated this decision after the NFL Draft. In late April, the Ravens made a rare move by selecting Arizona kicker Tyler Loop in the sixth round of the NFL Draft. It was the first time in the franchise’s 30-year history that the Ravens had drafted a kicker.

The NFL opened an investigation in February after multiple women came forward accusing Tucker of exposing himself, making inappropriate contact, and leaving suspected bodily fluids on massage tables. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has yet to make any disciplinary ruling, but the investigation is still ongoing. Tucker has denied the allegations. His attorneys also deny that he was banned from any spa.

The Ravens are expected to designate Tucker as a post-June 1 release, which would free up $4.2 million in salary cap space this year and spread the remaining $7.5 million in dead money over two seasons. Tucker had three years remaining on a four-year, $22 million extension he signed in 2022.

Tucker exits Baltimore as one of the greatest kickers in NFL history. He holds the league’s best career field goal percentage at 89.1%, and in 2021, he set an NFL record with a 66-yard game-winning field goal. A seven-time Pro Bowler and fan favorite, Tucker became known off the field for his opera singing and comedic commercials.

However, Tucker is coming off the worst season of his 13-year career, converting just 73.3% of his field goal attempts (22 of 30), which ranked 31st in the NFL.

The NFL has not announced a timeline for concluding its investigation. As a free agent, Tucker remains subject to potential discipline under the league’s personal conduct policy.
