Texas Tech Baseball Closes Regular Season with First-Ever Series at BYU

PROVO, UT – Texas Tech Baseball will wrap up its 2025 regular season this week with a three-game Big 12 road series at BYU, marking the Red Raiders' first-ever visit to Miller Park in Provo.

The Red Raiders (19-30, 12-15 Big 12) and Cougars (25-25, 8-19) will play under the lights Thursday and Friday at 7 p.m. CT (6 p.m. MT), before closing the series Saturday at 2 p.m. CT (1 p.m. MT).

Texas Tech took two of three from BYU in Lubbock last season during the Cougars’ inaugural Big 12 campaign. This weekend's series carries postseason implications for the Red Raiders, who enter the final weekend ninth in the Big 12 standings—one game ahead of Houston—with seeding in next week's Big 12 Championship still to be determined.

Projected Pitching Matchups:

  • Thursday: RHP Mac Heuer (2-2, 5.29 ERA) vs. LHP Justis Reiser (3-0, 5.33 ERA)

  • Friday: RHP Tyler Boudreau (1-4, 6.85 ERA) vs. TBA

  • Saturday: TBA vs. TBA

Texas Tech is coming off its most dominant win of the season, a 16-4 run-rule (8 innings) victory over Abilene Christian on Tuesday. The Red Raiders hit five home runs—including three by senior Robin Villeneuve—and swiped eight bases.

Villeneuve became the first Red Raider since 2023 to record a three-homer game, driving in seven runs. Damian Bravo and Logan Hughes also homered. Hughes’ 18th long ball tied him for the Big 12 lead and placed him seventh on Tech’s all-time single-season list.

Texas Tech has clinched a berth in the 12-team Big 12 Championship field, which begins Wednesday, May 21, in Arlington. Depending on final standings, Tech could be seeded as high as No. 7 or as low as No. 11. If seeded seventh, Tech would play the No. 10 seed at 4 p.m. Wednesday; an 8-9 matchup would begin at 12:30 p.m. Both games will be televised on ESPNU.
