CARLSBAD, CA – The No. 24 Texas Tech men’s golf team finished 10th at the NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championships on Monday, narrowly missing a spot in the Match Play quarterfinals by three strokes.
The Red Raiders posted a final round 2-over-par 290 to finish 14-over-par (1166) across four rounds at Omni La Costa Resort. It marked the program’s fourth top-10 finish under head coach Greg Sands and the sixth in school history.
After sitting in a tie for eighth following Sunday’s 2-under-par round—the lowest team score of the day—Tech needed another low number to move into the top eight but ultimately came up short. The team’s round-by-round scores were 292-298-286-290.
Senior Calum Scott led the Red Raiders with a tie for 27th individually. Scott rebounded from a 5-over-par 77 in the opening round to shoot three consecutive 1-under-par 71s, finishing at 2-over-par (290). He recorded 17 birdies over the four days, tied for seventh-most in the field, and concludes his collegiate career with four straight NCAA Championship appearances.
Scott also finished 17th in the PGA Tour University rankings, earning a spot on the PGA TOUR Americas and automatic qualification into the second stage of Q-School later this year.
Connor Graham tied for 50th at 6-over-par (294), followed by Charlie DeLong (T-55, +7), Ben Gregg (T-60, +9), and Tim Wiedemeyer (66th, +11). DeLong recorded the team’s lowest round of the week with a 3-under-par 69 on Sunday.
Arizona State captured the team title with a 14-under-par total (1138), edging out Auburn (-12) and Florida (-9). Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Texas, Virginia, and Ole Miss advanced to the match play rounds.
