Baylor Football Player Dies at 18

 

GREENVILLE, MS — Baylor defensive linemen Alex Foster died early Wednesday morning, the university announced.

Foster, 18, redshirted the 2024 season at Baylor and went through practice this spring. Baylor said he died unexpectedly overnight, with no further details.

“We are heartbroken by the unexpected loss of Alex Foster, a beloved member of our football family. Our deepest condolences are with Alex’s family and all who loved him, as we lift them up in prayer now and in the days to come. In this time of deep sorrow, we draw strength from our faith, the love of the Baylor community, and the unbreakable bond forged through the game we love. Alex’s memory will forever be part of our hearts and this program.”

Multiple reports are circulating online that he died in a shooting, but nothing official surrounding his death has been released.

Foster, a 6'5", 292-pound football player, redshirted his freshman season at Baylor. He played his high school football at St. Joseph Catholic School in Madison, Mississippi.
