OKLAHOMA CITY, OK — The Texas Tech University softball team earned its biggest win in program history Monday with a 3-2 upset over Oklahoma that sends the Red Raiders to the Women’s College World Series final.
The win over four-time defending national champion Oklahoma would have been big anywhere, but to do so at the World Series was a monumental achievement for a Tech program making its first appearance on the sport’s biggest stage.
Tech also showed grit after the Raiders were within one out of winning, only to have Oklahoma’s Abigale Dayton hit a two-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to tie the game 2-2.
Tech came right back and won it in the bottom of the seventh when Lauren Allred hit a one-out sacrifice fly to score Mihyia Davis from third base.
