Texas Tech Student-Athletes Set Academic Records

LUBBOCK, TX — Texas Tech Athletics announced Friday a record-setting academic performance for the spring 2024 semester, highlighted by the highest spring GPA in department history and the second-highest single-term GPA overall.

The department's more than 400 student-athletes combined for a 3.38 GPA, just shy of the all-time record of 3.39 set in fall 2023. The strong semester boosted the department’s cumulative GPA to a new high of 3.41, surpassing the previous record of 3.40.

This marks the 21st consecutive semester in which Texas Tech student-athletes have recorded a departmental GPA of 3.0 or higher. Of the university's 13 athletic programs, 12 posted both a spring term and cumulative GPA above 3.0.

Three programs — women’s track and field, football, and women’s basketball — recorded the highest spring semester GPA in their respective histories. For the women’s track and field team, it was also the best GPA ever recorded by the program for any semester.
