LUBBOCK, TX — The Lubbock Independent School District recently announced that the Board of Trustees has approved the appointment of Sara Alvarez as the new principal of Centennial Elementary School. Alvarez has served as assistant principal at Centennial since 2019.
With over 20 years of experience in Lubbock ISD, Alvarez began her teaching career at Harwell Elementary School. She has so far served as a teacher, instructional coach, and assistant principal.
"I'm extremely happy for you and Centennial and Lubbock ISD." Lubbock ISD Superintendent Kathy Rollo said. "We know that good things are going to happen and continue to happen at Centennial."
Alvarez earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Development from Texas Tech University, where she graduated summa cum laude. She also earned her master's degree in education administration from Lamar University.
"It is a privilege to continue serving a district that has been such an important part of my life for the last 24 years." said Alvarez. "Centennial is a place I love dearly. It's a special place full of dedicated educators, supportive families, and, most importantly, inspiring students that motivate me daily."
