Texas Tech to Resume Play After Lengthy Weather Delay

LUBBOCK, TX — After a lengthy weather delay in Texas Tech's opening matchup against Arkansas-Pine Bluff, there has been an update on the status of the game.

A thunderstorm hit the Lubbock area around 9 p.m. on Saturday night. Time had just expired in the first half as school officials cleared out Jones AT&T Stadium.

A torrential downpour began about ten minutes later. Texas Tech and Big 12 officials announced later that after the lightning clears, the game can resume.

The final two quarters between Texas Tech and Arkansas-Pine Bluff will be shortened to eight-minute quarters to expedite the rest of this blowout. Texas Tech currently leads the Golden Lions 47-0.
